I remember when i turned 31 i told my friends that it would be the last time i would spend for a birthday party so when i turned 32 i decided that instead of a party i have sponsored a feeding program in our barangay back home. The beneficiaries were the pupils of my grade school Alma Matter and the remain was distributed among the residents of our barrio.

Well that was just a way of thanking God for another life he has given us, extending some help for others who are not members of our family.

PINK WATCH / MOBILE

Hubby and I are going home very very soon. After almost 2 years i'll be seeing my loveones again. Hubby had his vacation every year so he's not really that excited at all not like me who started counting the days already. I can't wait to see how happy my sister to have her new pink swatch and my niece with her new pink LG mobile phone.

My niece, Denise, has been asking me to buy her a mobile phone and like me she wants a pink one. So here's what i bought her.

My sister Bhip who celebrated her birthday this month has been dreaming to have this watch. So when i asked her what she wants me to give her, she said she'll be happy to have this one. So then I bought it last week. It was already out of stock when i visited the shop near our home, good thing the other shops still have it and the sales agent requested if they can send them one for me to have it.

A NOTE TO NANAY

After a month and a half, i'm still wishing that it was just a dream...that i'm gonna see her still as she promised. But no! it's real and that i would never see her again.

I cried so hard for how many days when she finally rested her tired body. I have so much guilt in me that for the long years of being here in abroad i have not given her a treat or the life she deserves on her last days. I know she understands and I know Mama had been there to take care of her or support her in small things but as i say it wasn't enough for someone who have been there for me when i was growing up.

It's so sad that sometimes we only realize things when it's too late...though i know she understands me more than anyone else in the family but i wish i could have done things before she left me/us.

Nay,

Ang daya daya mo Nay…sabi mo ikaw pa mag aalaga skin pag nagkababy ako…siguro nainip ka na sa kahihintay kaya iniwan mo na ako. Lungkot na lungkot ako Nay kasi hindi ako handa sa pamamaalam mo…hindi ko inaasahang hindi na pala tayo magkikita. Ang dami ko pa sanang gusto para sayo. Sabi ko pag uwi ko kakain tayo sa labas at ibibili kita lahat ng gusto mo at pag nagkababy ako lalo na't babae magpapapicture tau nina Mama at ng baby ko at ilalagay ko doon na caption "the generation".

Mamimiss ka ng paborito mong apo Nay. Hindi mo man sinabi sa akin pero alam ko at ramdam ko na ako ang pinakapaborito mong apo kasi kahit salbahe ako noon sayo pero mahal na mahal mo ako. Minsan naiisip ko siguro sayo ako nagmana kasi naiintindihan mo ako sa mga kamalditahan ko.

Naaalala mo pa ba Nay yung mga panahong tayo lang lagi magkasama…noong bata pa ako. Akay akay mo ako kahit saan ka pumupunta or nanggagamot ka, na kung saan inaalalayan kita pag pauwi na tayo dahil lasing na lasing ka tapos pagdating sa bahay panay ang tawag mo sa akin na kunin ang nganga mo kahit nasa harapan mo na.

Sa dami mong apo ako lang yata ang nakurot mo ng marami marami dahil sa sobrang kulit ko, ako lang din yata yung nakakatulog habang nagdadasal tayo ng rosaryo at novena de salvacion…ung madalas mong tingnan sa gabi para ayusin yung kumot ko or ipasok sa loob ng kulambo dahil sa sobrang likot ko matulog...ung matiyaga mong binabantayan habang maysakit ako at nilalapatan ng mga gamut galing sa katas ng mga dahon dahon…ung madalas mong mapagalitan dahil matagal akong makabalik tuwing uutusan mong bumili sa tindahan…

Hanggang sa lumaki ako at napahiwalay sayo ng medyo matagal…pagbalik ko ikaw pa din ung dating Nanay na meron ako...maaalalahanin lagi sa akin. Maraming beses din akong naging pasaway sayo at inaaway kita pero hindi mo ako natitiis.

Ngayong wala ka na Nay mamimiss ko lahat ng alaala natin. Siguro hindi ko agad agad matatanggap ang pagkawala mo pero okay lang ako…kaya ko toh. Dadalawin na lang po kita paguwi ko.

Alam ko nasa masaya at tahimik na kayo sa kinalalagyan nyo ngayon pero sana Nay palagi nyo pa rin akong/kaming gagabayan. Mananatili po kayo sa puso't isipan naming lahat.

I'M BACK

I've mentioned it many times that I can only write when i'm down and hurting but then that day Nanay (granny - mother side) passed away, it's like i've lost all my energy that i can't even think of anything. I thought it would be the best time for me to express my feelings through writing but everything turned so dark that i can't even see myself, what was clear during that day was the anguish of losing someone so dear.

And now after a months of grief, i'll to be fully alive again. Thanks to Nanay who visited me twice in my dreams. Love you Nay:)

DRINKING SESSION DURING MY BIRTHDAY

As much as i wanted not to celebrate my birthday last month some of our flatmates insisted to atleast have a drinking session.

I have mentioned it earlier to them that instead of an extravagant birthday celebration I chose to sponsor a feeding program in our place back home which means I don't have money for another celebration here. So when they asked for a drinking session they voluntarily shared some dirhams to buy for a tequilla.

As usuall, even if it was just a simple drinking session/birthday celebration the ladies at flat 609 prepared their selves for a picture taking with their motiff of black.

I was also wearing black but on the photos it turned out red. I think its because I was celebrating my birthday.

Well anyway, it may not be a real birthday celebration with plenty of foods and guests and yet I had fun that night. Celebrating simply it with people whom you consider a family from this foreign land was more than enough to thank for.

It's second to the last topic for this month and as you might have noticed I haven't joined the meme for the previous topics. I was so occupied last few weeks and I don't have time to even update any of my blogs.

Old Class Picture! I've got only one and it was taken a day before our graduation in elementary. I forgot if it was the teachers who were not positioned at the center or i intended not to be at their back because I might not be seen. I was the smallest in the class that time. So I don't know if you can recognized me on this photo but i was the last girl on the right.

NO GRAND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

No birthday wishlist, no plan for a big celebration. I made it clear to myself that since my 31st Birthday was my last hurray to the calendar so then a grand celebration ends there. And as I turn 32 years old by tomorrow I want things to be different, I want it to be simple yet meaningful.

I came upon this idea of celebrating my birthday in a different way when a grade school classmate who is now a member of our barangay council approached me if I can sponsor a feeding program. I told her "Yes, Why not". As an OFW I can't say that I have enough money but it makes me feel good that inspite of that little hard earned money I am able to extend some help not only to my family but to some other closely related person/entities. And extending some for the malnourished kids in our barangay in exchange of a grand birthday celebration, I think would be a great idea and I hope It won't be the last.

So for this time you won't see photos of foods and guests to come on my birthday. Maybe I will just attend an afternoon mass at Saint Mary's Church and that's it. Just an ordinary day.

A GIFT

The other day i got a call from Ghaleyah Travel telling me that i won a gift during the 113th PID Celebration. Feeling lucky then, Hubby and I went to Al Attar Shopping Center where their office is located to collect the "gift".

We arrived to their office just right on time and while waiting for that certain gift we (i, the receptionist and another winne had a litte talked about the cost of visa and ticket plus other documents needed in sponsoring a relative/friend to come here in Dubai.

Few minutes later, we were asked to enter the conference hall wherein the moment we entered i know that some business opportunity might be introduced. There were bottles and packed of perfume on top of the table and a white board which my merely looking on what's written on it that there would really be a business oportunity. In short, the raffle ticket's during the PID Celebration was just a part of their marketing strategy and a presume that there was no such thing as winner instead all those who signed to the raffle tickets were being called so they can introduced their product/business opportunity.

So then the Marketing Manager came and told us that while waiting for our gift she will present something that we might be interested. She introduce a PERKS Card which cost 250AEd as membership fee and she explained some of the benefits of the card like; can avail discounts starting from 5% - 20% from selected restaurants, shops, salon etc etc, purchase from any of their perfumes would only cost 7.50AED and a business opportunity which looks like a Multi Level Marketing.

The offer was good enough for a membership fee of 250 AED but then being a distributor of a well known MLM Company I know how it works and that i don't want to get involved to another one.

As a token for our time listening to the Marketing Manager was local made perfume which she said that the original scent came from Paris. Well, not a bad gift anyway for someone celebrating a birthday.

FAVE TEACHER

I dreamed of becoming a teacher when I was in grade school but unfortunately after having witnessed how difficult it was to be a teacher by merely seeing my higschool teacher, I told myself that I will never be a teacher.

For most of you who might be reading this entry would somehow asked why it turned out that I hated being a teacher where as it was my ultimate dream. Well, can you imagine a teacher who stands all the time except during his/her break, walk up and down the stairs (1st - 6th floor) on different buildings, it was the students who evaluates and decides whether they will be hired or they can continue teaching, works till Saturday morning and does many other things that the management requires...

That's how simply my fave teacher's life, Ms. Grace Paloma, when she was still teaching at The Sisters of Mary School. Pretty sure, she and the rest of the teachers of my Alma Matter had a real hard teaching experiences there which in return they got the highest compensation from all their sacrifices and dedication to teach and educate us.

Ma'am PALOMA as what we call her was a Social Studies Teacher. She was for me, a Terror! A small but terrible good looking teacher. She usually smiles when she enters the room but sometimes you wouldn't like her smiling while saying "Good Morning Class" because the next she might would asked is to take a 1/4 sheet of paper for a short quiz from yesterday's lesson. What if you didn't got a chance to even go over with your notes or read the lessons on your book? Or if there will be no suprise quiz, a recitation maybe which she randomly calls a certain name but actually looking to someone else. I got that experience wherein she called me but since she was looking to another student i thought she was referring to her. When she shouted at me asking what was the answer, that was the only time I realized that it was me she's calling.

Well, she maybe a terror teacher inside the classroom but she was also a good friend outside the four corners of a classroom. A very energetic teacher...

JUST NOTHING

Hurt me and I will start blogging again. I think two of my followers knows that when I do not blog or write anything that only means I am happy. Ideas and words overflows when I'm down, sad and hurt. So for the last few weeks that I did not update my blog it means that I am enjoying my life with the people I love.

Well yeah, I was happy though there were days that Hubby pissed me off yet I was able to control and manage myself not to over react on what he has done. Our 6th wedding anniversary and his birthday had past and yet I haven't shared anything here.

And now I am waiting for that time that someone would hurt me (not really that), i mean would encourage me to blog again like what Niko used to tell me before. I've missed her, haven't talked or chat with her lately which i understand coz she's on the way with their second child.

Haven't heard about it untill we had a room mates whose working from KAS AUSTRALIA. Everytime I want to change or buy new sets of beddings I always prefer to visit Ikea but today as I was checking my photos I saw this cushions and pillows which was taken during my visit at KAS, Burjuman Branch.

I love pink but I can't color our bedroom with pink because for sure Hubby wouldn't like it so in case i won from the latest Kas Australia Giveaway I wanna choose the latest edition with the shades of blue.

GT gets hotter for the summer theme I guess! Expect some cute summer wear next week but for the meantime lets talk about our memorable summer.

I love summer except for the sun burn and skin pigmentation that I usually got from too much exposure to the sun. And if there's a memorable one that would be my last summer with old friends here in Dubai at Wild Wadi Water Park way back 2006.

The lady on my right is Wenda. A former roomates and almost a big sister to me. Someone whom I would never forget. She was there during the most difficult times of my life in Dubai. She went home for good last 2007 and hopefully I would be able to visit here this year.

Those ladies with us are her relatives who became my good friends as well. I haven't seen them for quite a while but their memories would always remain.

Last day of TO DIE FOR topics! I don't know I had so much fun with this month's theme maybe because I got the most comments for Coco Martin. Well, as we end this month with the gadget to die for I wanna say "Thank You Guys" for the visit,comments and for following my blogs.

Gadget to die for! I've never desired for something that bad except for the DSLR Camera which was a part of our Christmas Wishlist for two consecutive years already. I thought I could be able to buy it end of last year, I almost had the money for it but something came up. A little boy's family badly needed money for his operation and my family was looking for a house to rent. So then I gave up that camera I've been dying to have for the life of that little boy in exchange of their house (mortgage) where my family stays now.

I've never been so techie or materialistic but saving and dreaming for something I really wanted to have means giving up for all those little and simple things i also want to have but if it takes saving a life and a place to call home for my family then I think it's worth giving it up besides I can still save for it.

Who among you are watching the newest soap opera in ABS CBN, Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin? If there's a reason that keeps me awake till midnight here in Dubai that is because of this Philippine family military drama series shown of TFC. I can't resist not to watch it everynight because of Coco Martin.

I so love Coco Martin! For me he's the real image of a Filipino Hunk Actor. He's such a handsome and a hot guy. I love his eyes, the way he smiles, his dark complexion, his natural sexy body and more too when he acts.

If given a chance to choose whom to marry on the next life i would like Coco Martin (but i don't think he would like me too lol!).

Coco Martin's hollywood counterpart would be Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom.

Whoa! Time flies so fast! Imagine where on the 4th month of Girls Talk now! And for the 1st topic of the month which is food to die for, here i go!

I grew up as a vegetarian and i think i'll die as a vegetarian as well. It's not that i don't eat meat or any other food rich in protein but if I have to choose between vege's and others I always go with vegetables.

And for some years of living in Dubai where most of the local restaurant serves fresh vegetables salads along with the main course and considering the cheaper price of vegetables made me and even my husband love it.

If there’s something that made me real happy in my life as an elder sister to my 8 siblings that is when I see them graduate.

Last Friday, 25th March 2011, my brother graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts and Political Science and my sister with a degree of BS Information Techonology. Their graduation was held at Catanduanes State Colleges Gymnasium, Virac, Catanduanes.

Since the day it was confirmed that my brother was among the graduating students I have been sending them a message that I was so happy for both of them especially to my sister who graduated as “Cum Laude”. I can’t explain the feelings of seeing them finished their studies because it was not easy to support them. It took a lot of sacrifices on my side just to send them to school which means that sometimes I need to give up something I really wanted to buy for myself just to provide their school needs. For me it was like a never-ending responsibility but knowing that my efforts were not taken for granted, I felt like whatever achievements they have was my achievement as well.

Teary eyed with their message to me...

(Dhang) It was you who should be congratulated because it was actually your success not mine, because I won’t be able to earn my degree without your support, concern, effort, love and sacrifices. So Congratulations and thank you very much. You made me realized that impossible dreams can also be converted into reality.

(Nonoy) I thank God that I got a big sister like you; you are the greatest gift that God has given us.

Congratulations, Bro and Sis! Words aren't enough to describe how proud I am to both of you and what you've accomplished so far. Thanks for making your Big Sissy the happiest "ATE" in the world.

GT: SWEET CHILD OF MINE

I'm back, after missing 2 GT entries. Back to Music Madness, as for the topic today which is about the song that makes me smile and feel relax everytime i hear it, that would be Sweet Child O' Mine of Guns N' Roses.

It was on the last years of my teenage life when i started to love this song. I was working that time in Laguna Technopark and every Saturday night I would hang out at Kalesa Kape. The first time i entered that bar, the band members were about to play this song and I was just there near the entrance simply looking at them while they perform and by merely listening to them it seems like all stress are gone. And now everytime i hear this song it reminds me of those days.

Hello Girls! We’re done with the love that the month of February brought us and now we’re on the Music Madness month. Well, I’m not a music lover but I can easily love music! (Huh?)…and if others hate rock, techno and heavy metal….I loves it! I want music that is associated with anger and depressions but actually alleviates negative feelings. And if there’s one song that I hated so much, that would be NUMB of Linkin’ Park. I hate it not in the sense that I don’t like it but because it reminds me or something and merely hearing it is like anger and hatred comes back…it’s like opening the wound that I’ve been dreaming to be healed.

Burjuman Center host a daily musical shows as part of Dubai Shopping Festival and it will last till 18th February 2011.

Last Tuesday Hubby and I was able to watch the last part of the musical tribute for that day where a group of men adn women performs some hits from Mamma Mia, Glee and Highschool Musical.

A BRAND NEW OR A SECOND HAND

I was talking with our accountant yesterday and I’ve learned that his car was impounded by RTA for 15 days for beating the red light along Mahktoum Road and now he’s worried where to get a car because he has an important work to do in Abu Dhabi this week. I told him he can borrow the other car from the office since nobody used it and maybe he can start arranging for another car loan for his wife who is currently taking a driving lesson. So in case that one is out for a car service he still has another one to use.

I don’t drive but if I have an idea which car to buy I prefer a Honda Accord such that in West Palm Beach Florida. We do have the same car in the office and my boss loves to used it and he said it is better than the other two cars that we have, the BMW and Mercedes Benz which is both a luxury car that has a very high maintenance cost. Usually we spend thousand dirhams for a year (if not more) for oil changes, filter changes and other types of common maintenance.

But then he said he would either buy use used cars or simply rent a car when needed since they don’t have that much money to buy a new one. Well, budget is always been the first thing to consider in buying a brand new one or a second hand one.

LIFE AT WORK TRASFFERED TO WORDPRESS

Now i got reason to try harder on blogging. My other blog, Life At Work ,was now transffered to wordpress and i would like to thank Kaye for the great help and of course to Niko for encouraging me to do it.

I'm always lazy updating my blogs and it was Niko who always put me in a high spirit to write something as often as I can and I love it whenever he ask me "Ate She how's blogging?" ...by that I am reminded that there are many things i can do during my boring days at work like earning some $$$ through blogging. And you know what made me happy last week....I received $$$ from Add Ons and that was because of Niko again... (Thanks Young Sis!)

Going back to the transfer...did you know that i have no idea about hosting? Funny yeah... I've been blogging for nearly 6 years now but i don't know anything about web hosting. I was using blogger which has a free hosting for my other blogs that's why I’ve never had this problem. I was chatting with Niko yesterday and it was her who explained to me what is it and with regards to my newly transferred blog to Wordpress she offered a free hosting....Thanks Again Dearie! You're an Angel!

FUN FAIR AT AL RIGGA

By chance we were able to visit the fun fair areas on Al Rigga Street yesterday after Hubby's check up in Al Noor Polyclinic. We actually had our dinner at Golden Pork and while we were eating Hubby was wondering why there was so many people going towards the mosque. He wasn't aware that Al Rigga is one of the main destination of Dubai Shopping Festival 2011 and so after dinner i asked them if we can have a look at the place.

So there it was...a number of attraction from night souq along Al Rigga Street, colorful game stalls at the mini fun fair area, delicious street side treats and a lively atmosphere with people from all ages.

Here's an arab little boy at the big water-filled pool with tiny pedal-powered rafts. He was the only brave little boy who tried to pedal the rafts last night.

I'm not afraid of heights but i don't think i can promise to try this crazy ball rides (not sure of the name). I've seen few couples who tried it and they enjoyed the ride so far.

And here we go at the redemption, electical, and inflatable games area.

We also bought something from the night souq stalls along the street and the prices are half of that in the malls.

It's nice to be back after a month of not participating GT, I simply miss the Girl Talkers and I think it's the topic that brought me back here.

It’s Love Month and I’m pretty sure that LOVE is one of the most interesting topics that we girls really like. I can imagine when all of us gathered in one room to share our experiences about our crushes, first love and the man we promise to love till death…for sure all of us wants to be the first one to share but that is something impossible to happen that’s why we’re here at GT…hehehe

Anyway, as we talk about STUPID LOVE, I can vividly recall my stepfather’s statement when he has known that Marlon and I were already dating. He said, “For heaven’s sake, you almost grew up in the city and here you are falling in-love with this guy from our place? Can’t you find someone from the city? You were already born in this small barrio and still you will marry someone from here?”

I didn’t really understand why he told me that or maybe he can’t just tell me directly that he doesn’t like Marlon. I had that bad feeling with him that time and if not for the sake of having him as my own father I could have told him “Who are you to tell whom to love?” With his disapproval and so as my mom the more we became so in-love with each other and all that they can do was to accept Marlon. And if there's some stupid things i did for the sake of love......that was to lie to my parents.

I can never forget how angry my mom was when she learned that i was with Marlon instead of my bestfriend during school break. Well i do understand that she was worried of me getting pregnant without finishing my studies first....what she don't know we are already planning to get married and before she learned about it we were already married on a civil rights and that happened a month after my graduation before going to Dubai.

ENBD DEBIT CARD LINKED TO PAYPAL ACCOUNT

Finally i got my paypal account linked to my new Emirates NBD Account which i have just opened for WPS Wages Protection System purposes. It was before linked to my Citi Bank Credit Card but then my card was blocked when Dubai suffers from recession.

Thanks to Niko who never say No whenever i needed some help. I didn't know that it is possible to link a debit card to paypal account but with her confirmation that it can be...yesterday i was finally able to linked my debit card number to my paypal account.

For some who is new with it.....here's some guide..

Upong signing with your paypal account;

1. Click your profile
2. Go to Edit/Add Credit Card/Debit Card Number

3. Click Add and it will take you to this page below where your will be ask for your debit card number. Enter your card number, then it will also ask for the expiration date of your card and the CVV which is the 3 digit number at the back of your card.

4. After filling up the fields, your debit card is already linked but still you have to confirm your card. The bank will give you a 4 digit paypal code through your account statement to confirm your card.(here you don't need to wait for your statement or even call the bank to ask for it coz they automatically send any transactions to my mobile that's why i was able to confirm my debit card right away).

AN ABRA

I've almost forgot how it feels to ride in an Abra. Before when RTA buses are still limited I was used to take this wooden boat from Burdubai to Deira and vice versa.

An abra is actually a traditional boat used to transport people across Dubai Creek which has a capacity of 20 passengers and it is driven by an operator from a cockpit stepped in the center of the hull.

Last week i had this experience of taking the abra from Bur Dubai to Deira and i felt so great that after a year i was able to ride on this boat, smell the creek and feel the winter breeze while crossing the creek.

I wish next time i will be able to take my sister who haven't tried the abra yet and we'll rent it for 30 minutes maybe...

It's been a months that i didn't join this meme and though i am alredy late for this entry let me still have a chance to be a part of Girls Talk. I've missed all the topics here and i hope i can have more time for this now.

Healthy Me! I have not been so conscious with my health until i had my digestive problem. Well, i love to eat fruits and vegetables a lot but if given a chance that someone prepared foods which include meat or chicken..surelly i would have it till the last piece just like what happened last Christmas and New Year's celebration. After that... i have had a hard time defecating and i promise myself that i will NOT and NEVER eat meat.

Other than eating meat i will avoid taking dairies and milk and anything that triggers my allergy. And i promise to do a little exercise everyday, drink vitamins and eat on time.

ASMSI - UAE Chapter Christmas Party 2010

A success!

UAE Eagles had a Christmas Party at Manila Bar 21, Avenue Hotel, Al Rigga, Dubai last Friday. It was the first ever event of ASMSI - UAE Chapter with almost half of members attended.

Call time was 10am but some of the Execom and Adhoc Committee came around 9am just to prepare the place, the reception table and many other things....but sad to say the bar wasn't ready yet and by the time i arrived they were still arranging the tables.

While waiting for the others to come we had our official photoshoots headed by Big Brother Jhvn Mariano and all other members who had their camera.

And of course the much awaited time....dinner. I so love the "litsong kawali" that night, i hope someone would cook some for me or teach me how cook it.

When dinner was over we had few games like "bring me", "pinoy henyo", "star of the night contest".......etc., followed by a choral presentation of youngsters (2nd batch).

And a dance presentation of "Pangkat Kawayan Dancers"...jeje

Then a party with the band....

Lastly a group picture before the party ended.

I saw this tea sets at Centerpoint just the other day when i was trying to look for an exchange gift for our Christmas Party. With its beautiful pinky colors i imediately took a photo of it and i thought of sharing it here.

Few days more and it's Christmas, i miss home and i miss my family during this season but there's no way to spend it with them. So i am planning of sending them a video of our photos with this song as the background music. I hope that by this they could feel that we are were just near.....celebrating Christmas with them.

It's been a while again that i did not post anything, no entries for memes and updates for what simply happened on me or around me.

I've mention it many times.....that even if i wanted to write something if i'm not in the momentum to do so....then i can't write anything though i always have so many ideas to share. I wish i am a writer and i am good in words...where i don't need to wait for that moment that an essay can simply be written without even thinking so hard.

I feel so great having so many comments from a simple post for a certain topics on meme's and i missed it so much if i didn't join the daily entries but lately i was too busy preparing for our alumni Christmas Party and was too lazy to post anything. I always have a boring days at work and if i wanted to i can write as many post as i can everyday but like what i said it isn't easy to write.

LITTLE GIRL IN PINK

Waaaa...I'm already late for this post...blame it for not having an internet connection at home since yesterday morning and can't do it at work also coz it was holiday here since Thursday.

Anyway, thanks for the reminder of our hostess Beverly. So here's my share for yesterdays Pink Saturday Meme.

We have attended a birthday party of our friend here in Dubai and i saw her niece for the first time. She is a very pretty little girl who at first was a bit shy but later she came and joined us.

And since our theme for yesterday was a Holiday Recipe let me share you what Filipino's usually have during this festivities esp during Christmas Eve....a Filipino Pork Barbeque Recipe.

Pork Barbeque Recipe

Estimated preparation: 20 minutes
Marinating: 30 minutes to 3 hours
Barbecue: 10 to 15 minutes each

Pork Barbeque Ingredients:

1 kg. pork
20 bamboo skewers
1 cup soy sauce
1 head garlic, minced
1 onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup of calamansi juice or lemon juice
1/2 cup of 7up, sprite or beer (optional)
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 tablespoons of brown or white sugar
1/2 cup of banana or tomato catsup

Barbeque Cooking Instructions:

Cut pork meat into thin and long slices - 1/4 inches thick and less than 2 inches wide.
In a mixing bowl, marinate the cut pork with the soy sauce, minced garlic, chopped onions, calamansi juice, ground pepper, sugar, banana catsup and the soda or beer (this tenderizes and adds flavour to the pork barbeque)
Mix well and keep in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (turning occasionally).
Prepare the bamboo skewers by removing splinters and soaking in water to reduce burning during barbeque.
String the pork on the skewers.
Over live charcoals, barbeque the pork on skewers until each barbeque is cooked - turning every few minutes on each side and basting the leftover marinate on the barbeque.

ASMSI - UAE Chapter Monthly Birthday Celebrations

It was then agreed that to strengthen the camaraderie between alumni other than the regular event of ASMSI - UAE Chapter there should be one day event every month just to bond with fellow alumni and that is the Monthly Birthday Celebration.

So last Thursday night I was able to attend for the first time the birthday celebration of one of our member and it was held at Jumeirah Open Beach.

The celebrant prepared 3 menus which includes lumpiang shanghai, caldereta, kare kare and the others brought some also like, fruit salad, softdrinks, chips, fruits, juices, water and rice.

As I have observed everyone enjoyed the food that was prepared by Kuya Sin.

After eating time some members took time chatting with their batches especially the youngsters (the older batch of The Sisters of Mary School), others had fun teasing each other, and some played patintero while I was busy taking photos with the help of my tripod.

Then as announced the ASMSI - UAE Chapter Execom and Adhoc Committees had a brief meeting about the upcoming Christmas Party.

NO TO MILK AND DAIRIES

For years now, i've been suffering with this sudden allergic reaction on something i don't know yet...either because of the food i eat or any allergen. Recently i was advise by the doctor not to eat crabs, lobster, shrimps and strawberry... and yet i still have this rashes from time to time which i don't know the causes. And then the other day, when i arrived at work i had my breakfast of corn flakes with fresh milk. An hour after taking breakfast i had this usuall itchy feelings on some parts of my body which i thought that maybe it was because of the food i ate....the milk?

Maybe i have a milk allergy...and when i tried to search about it some of the symptoms i am experiencing is also related to milk allergy. I haven't consulted a doctor yet but somehow i am sure that it is one of the cause for my allergies. Milk allergy is a food allergy and an adverse immune reaction to one or more of the protein's in cow's milk and/or the milk of other animals—proteins that are normally harmless to the non-allergic individual. With that i tried to avoid drinking milk and eating any dairy products like cheese, butter, youghurt and even ice cream.

So now i would miss my all time favorite ice cream flavor from Baskin Robbins...Cookies and Cream with almonds and chocolate toppings.

PINK ANTHURIUM

It's Pink Saturday at Beverly's How Sweet The Sound ! For my share today, A pink anthurium. I took this photo at Burjuman Center during the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, I don't know if it's common to have pink anthurium... but as far as i always see around...anthurium flowers goes with red most of the time and sometimes i would see white one....so when i saw this i made it sure to take a photo of it.

I would love to receive a bouquet of pink roses with some of this flowers...and then since it usually last for a weeks i will put it in a base and place near our bed side table.

THE "BEAT DIABETES" WALK

Last Friday Morning we participated for the first time to the "Beat Diabetes" walk at Oasis Center. This charity walk is the most popular diabetes awareness programme campaigned by Landmark Group.

We came that day right before the walk started, took our shirts, cap and towel then move to the queue for diabetes logo face painting,

There was a mass warm up conducted by Fitness First for all participants before the walkaton begun.

Last weekend we went to Jumeirah Beach Residence for an early swimming but before that we first had a walk at The Walk and breakfast at Zaatar W'Zeit.

It was my first time to taste their lebanese bread with scrambled egg and homemade pizza and i can say that their lebanese bread was the best arabic bread i ever had....so tasty even without egg or anything on it.

I went to Art Tower along Mina Road last week to take the tickets of our crew when i saw this pink gown at the nearby building. I don't know...it's not that i need to post anything pink everyday Saturday that's why i took this photo but because i've been dreaming to have one like this though i don't really know where i'm going to use it.

I have plenty of pink stuff but not a pink dress or pink gown so I am hoping to buy one someday and if that happens i will post it here immediately. I don't know how will i look like wearing a pink gown...will i be pretty? we'll see..hehehe

Nol Card users got a free ride today in all public transport of Dubai to mark the 5th Anniversary of RTA (Road and Transport Authority).

I thought my Nol Card was not accepted or it does not have enought balance when i took a bus today morning. I didn't know that today is the free transport day in Dubai though i have read it few weeks ago that there will be a one day free in all public transport.

Driver: For sure RTA losses a million today..
Passenger: I dont think so...RTA earn too much money from the fines or automatic deduction to all Nol Card users once they forgot to swipe out.

I agree...i don't think RTA earn to much money on that...

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ENDS TOMORROW

Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign ends tomorrow so let me share to you guys the last photo i took from Burjuman Center as part of Safe and Sound breast cancer awareness programme.

So far the yearly campaign for breast cancer was a success except for Pink Walkaton which was postponed for 5th November due to the death of Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, ruler of Ras Al Khaima.

Yeah, BOOKWORM ends today. Thanks for all the participants of Girls Talk who shared their collections of books. Most of the books you guys shared are included in my "to buy" list.

All - time favorite books - THE LITTLE PRINCE & PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE.. but if there's another book I wanna share to you guys that would be - ELEVEN MINUTES - by Paulo Coelho. A reviewer of this book said...Eleven Minutes is worth reading, but with a very open mind. However, it is not something that one would enjoy reading again, like The Alchemist.

HE SPOKE of the importance of my books in his life, concluding: ‘They make me dream.’ I have often heard these words before and they always please me greatly. At that moment, however, I felt really frightened, because I knew my new novel, Eleven Minutes, dealt with a subject that was harsh, difficult and shocking.”(Excerpts from ’Dedication - Eleven Minutes’by Paulo Coelho)

Eleven Minutes is the story of Maria, a young girl from a Brazilian village, whose first innocent brushes with love leave her heartbroken. Lasong Rosas is the Filipino translation of Pink Ribbon. When we say pink ribbon, it is actually an international symbol for breast cancer awareness and used to express support for those who are diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

Each October hundreds of people raise money by organizing activities such as Pink Walkaton here in Dubai.

And now that October is about to end, let me refresh everyone about the history of Pink Ribbon.

It says that ....

In the fall of 1991, the Susan G. Komen Foundation handed out pink ribbons to participants in its New York City race for breast cancer survivors. The next year, Alexandra Penney, who was the editor-in-chief of Self, a woman health magazine, was working on the second annual National Breast Cancer Awareness Month issue. Evelyn Lauder, who was the senior corporate vice president at Estée Lauder, was invited to be the guest editor of the NBCAM issue edition in 1992. Penney and Lauder came up with the idea to create a ribbon and to enlist the cosmetics giant to distribute it in stores in New York City.

Charlotte Hayley, who battled breast cancer, produced peach color ribbons. She sold them with a card saying, "The National Cancer Institute annual budget is 1.8 billion US Dollars, and only 5 percent goes for cancer prevention. Help us wake up our legislators and America by wearing this ribbon". Her message spread fast. This made Penny and Evelyn Lauder interested in Hayley's concept. They offered to adapt Hayley's idea by working with her. But Hayley rejected the offer, saying that they were too commercial.

After discussing opportunities with Lauder, Hayley and their lawyers, they came up with a "new" color. The new color of the ribbon was pink and became an international symbol for breast cancer awareness. Source: (http://en.wikipedia.org/)

THRILLER BOOKS

I didn't join last week Girls Talk entry...for the reason that I'm not interested reading funny books and I have never read any except "The Little Prince" though it's not really a funny books but I had fun reading it because of the pen-and-ink pictures drawn with a childlike gravity.

Anyway for my share today which is about suspense/thriller books are from the works of Sidney Shieldon and John Grisham. I was in college when I started collecting some books of Sidney Shieldon and I loved Bloodline the most.

Then when I came to Dubai I fell in love with John Grisham when I've read his first novel, A Time To Kill, my fave thriller book. From then on I bought all his books, infact I bought Da Vinci Code that day it was released in Dubai and it is the most expensive from my collections. I had only two brand new books Da Vinci Code and Eleven Minutes and the rest are second hand books which I bought on a promo at a bookshop in Karama and Satwa Dubai.

ALWAYS CONSULT A DOCTOR BEFORE APPLYING ANYTHING ON YOUR FACE

I don't need to visit a doctor whenever I have this skin allergy or dermatographism or "skin writing" (Dermatographic Urticaria) as it can be cured with antihistamines and it is not a life threatening disease. In most cases like for me it is only a minor annoyance where usually itching and swelling lasts for about 10-20 minutes.

But not until I had this pimple like rash on my face, scalp and chest....

with a night gel on affected areas

I have consulted a Doctor (Skin Specialist) last October 5 and he asked me if I have used an steroid based ointment/cream and he mentioned some of those products like Elocom, Dermovate et etc... Voila! I have used one of it...the Elocom Ointment...as suggested by a friend. The doctors said that steroid based ointment should not be applied on the face...which I did. I have used it as a moisturizer mixed with mustela emollient cream with the thought that it will help me get rid of my pimples.

Steroid based ointment once applied on the face may cause an allergy and the side effects will develop within few weeks....the same thing that happened on me...

after two weeks

With this the doctor prescribed a medicine that will help remove all the steroids and I have to take it for 2 months plus the night/day gel and vitamins.

I can't wait to see my face look nice and pimple free again. So guys, never apply anything on your face without consulting a doctor.

We've come to another month for Girls Talk Meme and I feel glad that I was one of those who voted for "Books" when our hostess Beauty Queen Gene conducted a survey on what would be the next topics for her Thursday's meme.

I'm not really a bookworm though I was once an avid reader of Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Mystery Series when I was in highschool but when I came to Dubai 5 years ago I started to love reading books and became my new hobby.

I had collected some books/novels of Sidney Shieldon, Nicolas Parks, John Grisham, Dan Brown and Paulo Coelho and other authors. And if there's one book that really made me cry...it would be "A Walk to Remember". I guess everyone who read that book cried...am i right? But if there's a book I wanna share for today's topic....its Samira and Samir.

This book of Siba Shakib (an Iranian/German filmmaker, writer and political activist) is a true story of a young girl in the “mans world” in Afghanistan. Samira is brought up as a boy known as Samir by her father who is a brave commander fighting in the mountainous land of Afghanistan. Her father, who desperate for boy as his first born taught her to fight, ride and shoot and finally became the head of the family when her father died.

When she became an adult she fell in love with her friend of her youth and confess her female identity. She wants to live as Bashir’s wife but she has to give up her freedom, followed her heart to be a woman but hate to appear as a woman because she is well-know in her tribe as a male and her experiences is that of a man.

This for me is an emotional story, giving a glimpse into the unfair and oppressive lives of the women of Afghanistan and other Arab – Islamic Countries.

I am living in an Arab Country so I preferred to share this to all of you guys…not a must read but if you want you can have a copy of it…

SMALL HOT ROOM

When you say small hot room it usually refers to sauna. It is a small room designed to be heated to very high temperatures with well-controlled humidity and it is a place to experience dry or wet heat sessions.

Currently I have two flatmates who are enrolled to the gym with a goal of getting in better shape. Each month they are allowed to bring one guest to the gym and it happened that I was one their guest for about two times already. And since I don't really need to burn calories so I prefered to stay at the pool and sauna.

I hate cold places but the more I hate a closed room where I can't almost breath just like a small hot room which is sauna. But thinking of it's benefits I have entered a sauna for the first time in my life and stayed their for about 20 minutes. At first I couldn't really breath especially when a small amount of water was splashed on a hot fragrant rocks at the corner of the room. Few minutes later I was already sweating and I felt like all the toxic of my body are coming out from pores of my skin. I felt so relaxed when we left that small hot room.

Oh yeah since I was sharing you these let me as well share you the benefits of sauna. It is actually so relaxing and leaves your body soothed and your mind serene. It's main advantage lies in the fact that it promotes sweating, helping the body to rid itself of toxins. It is also believed that exposure of the skin to heat stimulates the production of white blood cells and strengthens the immune system.

And all other benefits of sauna includes;

increases and improves the rate of blood circulation and breathing.
it burns about 300 calories per average session so it will help you lose weight and stay fit and healthy.
a profuse sauna-induced sweat followed by a shower cleanses your skin far more thoroughly than just taking a shower.
the heat and humidity of the sauna diffuses the pain and relaxes tired muscles.
it is essentially a place to relax. Regular sauna adepts all agree that it effectively helps relieve physical and mental fatigue and stress.

This is my first time to join Pink Saturday and I wanna thank Beverly for a warm welcome. I am a pink lover and so when I came across with her blog I immediately sent her a message that I am interested to join her meme.

Since I am a new participant of Pink Saturday let me give you a little introduction of myself. I am Sheryl Ferrer...my family loves to call me "Bhing" but my friends prefered to call me "Sheng". I am an Overseas Filipino Worker here in Dubai.. I am happily married with my childhood neighbor for 5 years and a half now but we have just been living our lives together since he came to Dubai 3 years ago.

Oh yeah since this month is dedicated for Breast Cancer Awareness so let me share with you guys a photos during my first ever participation in a Pink Walkaton as part of the Safe and Sound Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign last year organized by Burjuman Center. It was a charity walk which aimed at raising funds and awareness for the fight against Breast Cancer. There I saw members of the public from all walks of life unite to participate in the 3.6 kilometer Pink Walkathon where even the cute little young ones was a part of that event.

FAVE COLOR

Yeah Beauty Queen Gene it's the last Thursday of the month which is the day I've been waiting for though I wish there's another more weeks for COLORS AND ME...yet I am glad that it ends with the color I dearly love.

I'm not a kid/young anymore but I still wish to have a Hello Kitty Room such like the photo below but since I'm too old to wish for that and I don't think Hubby would love our room to be like that so I'll just have that wish for my daughter to come.

SQUASH AT A FRUIT AND VEGETABLES MARKET

My flatmates and I went to the Fruits and Vegetables Market in Ras Al Khor last Friday Morning and it was a real great experience going to a market where you can buy all fruits and veges at a very reasonable prices which is almost half the price you would pay in the supermarket.

I've been here in Dubai for almost 5 years and a half and yet it was the first time I went there. We booked for a big taxi when we go there but then we needed to call for two taxis on our way home coz we can no longer be accomodated with one since we bought plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Fruits and Vegetables Market is a big open market area, well organized and easy to navigate. The vendors are friendly and persistent in their pursuit of buyers. Trolley Man are just anywhere to help you carry the goods you bought in exchange of a few dirhams.

BUSY WEEKEND

What a weekend i had! Wish i can go home now and sleep. My body is still aching from a very busy weekend. I am working half day every Thursday and so I had enough time to simply watch movie at home or go with my flatmates to the gym. With my petite body I don't really need to work out but for some relaxation and fun once in a while I visit the gym near our building. Spend an hour to the gym, then another one hour to the pool and almost thirty minutes at the sauna room.

Then Friday which was supposedly a rest day and yet instead of staying at home we went to the Fruits and Vegetables Market in Ras Al Khor to buy lots and lots of fruits and veges.

Few minutes after reaching home I went to Dubai Mall to attend the first ever meeting of 2010-2011 ASMSI - UAE Chapter Officers. We had the meeting at UNO Chicago Grill.

I couldn't think of anything black from all my stuffs that i like so much except for this two...black accesories which was a gift from one of my friend and my all time fave high heels gladiator shoes which i bought in a chinese shoe store near my office.

It says that every woman should have a little black dress in her closet. A little black dress that will make you empowered and a queen of the world, this item of clothing should also be one that you can wear out to lunch with the girls and to the opera, and not feel out of place at either event. Sad to say i don't have that LBD and that's something I should look forward buying on Dubai Shopping Festival.

Have you ever wondered why you are not qualified for more blog opps?

I have been blogging for almost 5 years and started earning last year but as I observed I don't receive that much blog opps like that of my other friends and I am sure it's because I don't have that much traffic on my site and my page rank till now is not available.

Though i have already registered my blog on a one way text link directories which i can gain traffic like entrecard, adgitize and even to googles yet i don't have that much hits on my blog maybe because of low quality content.

It is always been an important factor to whether you want you blog to gain more money or more traffic to have a quality of the content that is on it which means that your entries is well written and something that a reader wants to know about.

So for bloggers who somehow wanted to earn money through blogging make it sure that you consider the steps closer to a perfect post and for those who simply uses blogging to voice out or express what on their mind then make it as simple as you want it to be.

JET SKIERS ON THE MOVE

For the first time Hubby was able to visit Abu Dhabi and it was because i have invited him for Fr. Al's Testimonial Lunch and ASMSI - UAE Chapter 3rd Year Anniversary Celebration at Cassels Hotel.

After the event all attendees headed to Emirates Palace for a chance that we may able to visit the place but sad to say we were not able to get inside because we don't have a booking for that visit....so then the group decided to go to at the Corniche Breakwater near Marina Mall where we had our picture takings and viewing of the jet skiers who simply showed how they leapt high off one wave after another, landing with a crash and a splash.

With a sudden spurt of speed this men came to splash water on fellow jet skiers.

And so as this two other men..

The other men tried to splash water to his opponent but it didn't even reach.

This speed boat tried to join the group of jet skiers also...

I'm not a fan of this color but this year when we went to a friends house who sells dirt-cheap clothings and stuff toys i bought this dresses...the first one i've used it when we had our ladies night out at The Lodge with the matching accesories; earing (from Shoemart Burdubai), bracelet (from Yemen shop in Global Village) and bead necklace (from Max).

And then this one i've used it when we had our Eid Celebration at Al Mamzar beach.

OUR BABY TURNS 23

She is totally grown up now. No longer a BABY but a LADY acting in a dignified way and carry herself with a good self steem.

Being the youngest girl we love to call her "Baby" or "Bhie"...but for some other time esp. when we were all young we sometimes call her "kirara" (from the teleserye kirara where the main character is an ugly lady with black complexion), "burarat" (bicol term for big eyes), and "kulot" (for having a curly hair) and many other aka's..

We are three girls in the family (mother side) but she is more attach to our mother...she is very open to her...about her crushes and even about her lovelife...

If i may share...their relatives used to turn her down...though we often call her "kirara", "burarat", or "kulot" but when others critisize her...we all feel bad....those critism has motivated her to be the best she can be...she became a consistent honor student during grade school...a neighbor envied my mom for having a child as brigh as she is... Again she graduated in highschool with honors and became a deanslister in college... It wasn't easy for her to prove to anyone that she can do more than what they thought about her.

She may not be beautiful in the eyes of her Aunt's and cousins but once in her teenage life she have joined 3 pageants...though she didn't win the title...yet we were all proud of her...she has gained so much confidence throught it...

She has truly gone far....before going to Dubai she was working as Marketing Assistant in an Insurance Company.

And now an OFW.... working as Accouts Assistant in a Real Estate Company.

As she turns 23 today...we all wish here more success...a better and greater opportunity to come. She maybe a Lady now but for us her family she will always remain as our Baby.

SATURDAY WORKOUT

I've been asking my flatmates to go to the beach but since it's Ramadan here and we don't know what's the proper clothes to wear in the beach this days so instead of going there they asked me to go with them to the gym coz they are allowed to bring one guest each month for free.

So here i go...

We were at the pool for more than an hour chatting and sharing some stories from the past then another 30 minutes heat session (sauna).....and khallas...

Hindi ko po alam kung paano at sa anong paraan ako mas makakatulong sa isang taong naging malaking bahagi ng buhay ko habang akoy nag aaral sa malakumbentong paaralan ng Sisters of Mary School. Kasalukuyang dumaranas ng mabigat na pagsubok. Pagsubok na hindi kakayanin ng pamilyang meron ako. Dahil sa aking karamdaman. Isang sakit na lubos na susubok sa katatagan ng aming pamilya. Karamdamang susubok sa tatag at lalim ng aming pananampalataya. Isang sakit sa bato, CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE – END STAGE RENAL DISEASE.

1998, natanggap ako bilang Machine Operator sa isang Electronics Company sa Laguna. Pagkalipas ng 3 taon, nabigyan ako ng pagkakataong mapromote ng isang level bilang Production Clerk sa kompanyang pinapasukan ko. Sa panahong iyon, kumikita ako ng sapat para sa aking sarili at nagkaroon ng pagkakataong makatulong sa pinansiyal na pangangailangan ng aking pamilya. Sapagkat malaki ang aming pamilya. Kapos ang kita ng aking ama bilang magsasaka, habang si Inay naman ay abala bilang ilaw ng aming tahanan. Noon, 2 pa lamang sa 8 kong mga kapatid ang may sariling pamilya, 6 ang nagsisipag-aral sa pampublikong paaralan.

2004, nang makilala ko si Boy, ang lalaking nagpamalas ng pag-ibig at pagmamahal sa akin. Sapagkat taglay niya ang mga katangiang hinahanap ko sa nais kong makasama habang buhay, hindi nagtagal nagpakasal kami.

2005, nagbunga ang pagmamahalan naming mag-asawa. Hindi naging madali ang aking unang pagbubuntis. Sa ika-3 buwan pa lamang, dumanas na ako ng pagdurugo (spotting). Kung kaya’t naging madalas ang pagliban ko sa trabaho sapagkat kinakailangan kong magpahinga. Noon, problema ko rin ang madalas na pagkakaroon ng UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). Halos kada buwan may UTI ako, sa kabila ng pag-inom ng mga gamot na reseta ng doktor at ng pag-iingat na aking ginagawa. Ika-8 buwan ng aking pagbubuntis, tuloy pa rin ang spotting. Hanggang dumanas ako ng sakit ng ulo, pagkahilo at pagsusuka. Tumaas din ang Blood Pressure kasabay ang pamamanas. Pre-eclamsia na pala ‘yon. Na-confine ako, habang nasa ospital napansin kong hindi na gumagalaw ang sanggol sa aking sinapupunan. Binawian nap ala ng buhay ang anak kong babae, sa edad na 8 buwan, sa aking sinapupunan.

Walang katumbas ang sakit na naramdaman ko ng sandalling iyon. Hindi ko matanggap na wala ng buhay ang supling na minahal at pinakaiingatan ko. Kinabukasan, isang uri ng gamot ang itinurok sa akin upang isilang ang patay kong sanggol in Normal Delivery. Subalit nabigo ako. Kinailangan ko ring sumailalim sa Caesarian Delivery, na nagdulot ng sakit sa buo kong pagkatao. Sakit sa isip at damdamin dahil sa pagkamatay ng aking anak, sakit ng katawan sanhi ng opera at sakit sa bulsa dahil sa malaking bayarin. Dito na ako nagsimulang mawalan ng trabaho. Nawalan na rin ng trabaho ang aking asawa dahil sa baba ng demand ng kanilang produkto sa pinapasukang pabrika. Hindi pa dito natapos ang aking problema. Tatlong lingo matapos ma-CS, muli akong ipinasok sa ospital. Dumanas ako ng matinding sakit ng ulo at pananakit ng dibdib. Noon, 2 bag na dugo ang isinalin sa akin dahil sa Anemia.

Sa kabila ng mga sakit na naramdaman ko, kailangan kong muling bumangon at ituloy ang buhay. Makalipas ang 1 taon, muli akong nagdalang-tao. Gaya ng dati, matinding pag-iingat ang kailangan sapagkat sa ika-3 buwan ng pagbubuntis, spotting na naman ako. Complete bed rest ang hatol ng doctor. Bed rest hanggang makapanganak. Mahina ang kapit ng sanggol sa sinapupunan. Dahil dito, ang mahal kong asawa ang kumilos bilang ama at ina sa aming pamilya. Pagkatapos magtrabaho sa bukid, abala naman siya sa mga gawaing bahay at sa pag-aasikaso sa akin. Habang ako ay walang ginawa kundi mainip sa maghapo’t magdamag na paghiga. Naisin ko mang magtrabaho sa bahay, hindi pwede sapagkat buhay ng aming anak ang malalagay sa alanganin. Habang nakahiga, wala akong magawa kundi ang paulit-ulit ng tumawag sa panginoon. Paulit-ulit siyang papurihan, hingan ng tulong at awa para sa ikabubuti ng aming pamilya. Makalipas ang mahabang 9 na buwan, isinilang ko ang mahal kong anak. Isang malusog na sanggol na lalaki – si Biboy. Sa pagdaan ng panahon, namuhay ng simple ang aming pamilya. 2 taon ang lumipas, nagsilang akong muli, isang batang babae – si Julie. Tulad ng ibang bata, bagamat malusog, may mga pagkakataong dinadapuan din sila ng pangkaraniwang sakit gaya ng ubo, sipon at lagnat.

Pebrero 2010, naging madalas ang pananakit ng aking ulo. Maraming beses akong nagpacheck-up sa Center na aming bayan upang maibsan ang sakit na naramdaman ko. Sa bawat pacheck-up “Mefenamic acid” ang resetang gamot sa akin.

Marso 2010, araw-araw na ang pagsakit ng ulo ko. Napansin ko, nawawala lang ang sakit tuwing iinom ako ng gamot. Subalit nanunumbalik ang matinding sakit pagkalipas ng 4 na oras. Paulit-ulit ang ganitong sitwasyon hanggang hindi ko na makaya ang sobrang sakit.

Marso 23, 2010 nagpasya ang aking asawa na magpageneral check up ako sa isang espesyalista – Internal Medicine. Noon ko lang nalaman, High Blood pala ang rason ng sakit ng ulo ko. Ayon sa resulta ng Blood Chemistry ko, 517.7 umol/L ang Uric Acid sa aking katawan, samantalang 140-340 umol/L ang kailangan ko. Ito na rin ang dahilan ng “Enlargement of the Heart” kung kaya hinahapo ako at madaling mapagod. 3 buwan akong uminom ng resetang gamot bago tuluyang bumaba sa Normal ang Uric Acid ko. Ipinagtataka ko lang, sa kabila ng pagbaba ng Uric Acid, High Blood pa rin ako. Patuloy pa rin ang sakit ng ulo ko. Nadagdagan pa ng madalas ng pagsusuka at labis na pananakit ng buong katawan na para bang nalalason.

July 1, 2010 muli akong kumunsulta sa doctor. Laking gulat ng doctor ng makita ang huling resulta ng Blood Chemistry at Whole Abdomen Ultrasound ko. Biglang tumaas ang Blood Urea Nitrogen, (3/23/2010 = 47 mg/dl, 7/01/2010 = 120 mg/dl) kasabay ng pagtaas ng Creatinine (3/23/2010 = 1.4 mg/dl, 7/1/2010 = 3.5 mg/dl) ang nakakalungkot pa bumaba na rin ang aking Hemoglobin, Hemocrit at Segmenters. Reseta ng maraming gamot ang ibinigay sa akin. Ganundin ang listahan ng maraming pagkain at inumin ng ipinagbabawal sa akin.

July 22, 2010 follow up check up, sa kabila ng pag-inom ng 9 na uri ng gamot nanatiling mataas ang presyon ko at lalo pang tumaas ang Blood Urea Nitrogen (195 mg/dl) at Creatinine = 7.3 mg/dl) sa aking dugo. Ramdam ko ang lungkot ng aking doctor habang ginagawa ang referral letter, isang sulat sa kapwa doctor na naglalaman ng aking kundisyon.

July 23, 2010 si Dr. Abcede – Internal Medicine – Nephrology ang nagpaliwanag sa akin ng tunay kong kundisyon. May sakit ako sa bato – CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE – END STAGE RENAL DISEASE. Isang uri ng sakit sa bato kung saan ito ay unti-unting nagagasgas hanggang lumiit at maubos, dahilan upang hindi na nito magampanan ang mahalagang gawain nito sa katawan ng tao, ang magsala ng dumi sa dugo.

Sa kasalukuyan, 2 ang Kidney kong hindi na gumagana. Ayon sa doctor, wala ng ibang paraan upang gumana o muling maisaayos ang nasira kong mga bato. Wala na akong pag-asang gumaling. Tanging Kidney transplant na lang ang aking pag-asa. Isang prosesong nangangailangan ng malawakang pagkilos, mahabang panahon at napakalaking halaga ng salapi upang maisakatuparan. Habang naghihintay ng Kidney donor, kailangan kong sumailalim sa Dialysis, 2 beses kada Linggo, upang maiwasan ang pagkalason.

Para akong pinagsakluban ng langit at lupa ng sandalling nalaman ko ang tunay kong kundisyon. Agad akong nagtungo sa CR. Hindi ko napigil ang sobrang pighati. Alam ko ang hirap at sakit na maaaring idulot ng aking karamdaman. Pagkalabas ng CR, nagtungo ako sa Chapel, subalit hindi ko nakuhang magdasal. Umiyak lang ako nang umiyak. Sa sobrang kalungkutan, mas nanaisin ko pa ang mamatay kaysa dumanas ng sobrang pagdarahop ang aking pamilya sa pag-aalaga at pagpapagamot sa akin. Patuloy ang pananakit ng aking katawan na lalo pang pinanghina ng padalas nang padalas na pagsusuka, hanggang hindi ko na magawang kumain kahit lugaw. Tiniis ko ang lahat ng sakit sapagkat ayoko ng Dialysis.

August 4, 2010, gabi, dinala ako sa pampublikong ospital dahil sa sakit ng tiyan. Matapos turukan ng Buscopan, patuloy pa rin ang sakit at pagsusuka ko. Ayon sa doctor, kailangan ko talagang magpadialysis. Ayoko, wala akong pera. Naisip ko, makakapagdelihensiya kami sa unang Dialysis, ngunit paano sa ika-2 at sa mga susunod pa. Pinauwi rin ako ng doctor.

Aug. 5, 2010, 7 am, bagamat magdamag na hindi nakatulog dahil sa sakit, pinilit kong bumangon. Hindi na ako makabangon. Noon ko naramdaman ang pinakamatinding sakit ng tiyan sa buong buhay ko. Sa sobrang sakit, hiniling ko sa Panginoon na kunin na ako. Ngunit hindi ako pinagbigyan. Nilapitan ako ng aking asawa, ni ayaw kong pahawak sa kanya dahil sa sobrang sakit. Paglapit niya, bigla kong nasabi, “Pa, sakalin mo na lang ako.” Natigilan ang asawa ko na noo’y walang nagawa kundi lumuha. Ilang sandali pa, isinugod akong muli sa ospital. Gaya ng inaasahan, Dialysis pa rin ang hatol ng doctor. Matapos turukan ng gamot nabawasan ang pananakit ng aking tiyan. Subalit hindi tuluyang napawi ang sakit nito. Wala na akong nagawa kundi ihanda ang sarili sa Dialysis. Noon, 14.4 mg/dl ang Creatinine ko.

Aug. 9, 2010 discharge na ako. Sa laki ng bayarin sa ospital at sa mahal ng mga gamot, lugi man, napilitang ang kapatid kong si Albert na ibenta ang 2 bakang paalaga niya. Si Ate Nenet, sa kagustuhang makatulong, buong tiyagang inasikaso ang mga papel na kailangan upang humingi ng tulong sa PCSO-Lucena. August 10, 2010, 38th birthday ni Ate, binigyan siya ng PCSO ng P7,000.00. Bagamat maliit na halaga, malaking tulong na rin sa tulad kong said na said ang bulsa kapapagamot. Aug. 11, 2010 sa pagtutulungan ng buong pamilya, nakabayad na rin ako sa ospital. Umuwi ako sa aming bahay. Nang Makita ako ng aking pamilya at mga kapitbahay, gayon na lamang ang kanilang pagkahabag dahil sa tubong nakatanim sa aking leeg na nagsisilbing daluyan ng dugo para sa Dialysis. Buong pagtataka naming nag-usisa ang aking mga anak. Nasabi pa ni Biboy, “Nanay magaling ka na? Ipinag-pray kita kagabi, sabi k okay Lord, pagalingin ka na.” Mga katagang umantig sa aking puso. Napagdesisyunan naming mag-asawa na magpagaling ako sa aking mga magulang. Doon, walang batang hahawak sa aking leeg na posibleng pagmulan ng aksidente. Nakita ako ng aking mga anak na paalis ng bahay. Todo ang kanilang pag-iyak. Nais nilang sumama. Masakit man, tumalikod pa rin ako patungo sa aking mga magulang para sa aking kaligtasan. Madalas, hinahanap ako ng aking mga anak. Dinadalaw nila ako. Sa bawat pag-uwi nila, umiiyak ang mga bata. Ayaw nilang umalis. Ayaw nila akong iwan. Naghahanap sila ng aruga at yakap ng isang ina. Wala akong magawa kundi ang lumuha at magpakatatag, taglay ang pag-asang gagaling pa ako, para sa aking pamilya. Sapagkat ang asawa ko ang nag-aalaga sa 2 naming anak, hindi na siya makapaghahanapbuhay. Tanging maliit na tindahan sa bahay ang kanyang pinagkakakitaan. Dahil madalas kong kunin ang benta upang ibili ng gamot, halos naubos na rin ang kapital. Nabenta na rin ang tricycle na tanging gamit niya sa pamimili mula sa bayan.

Dialysis, oral at insectable medicines, blood transfusion, tamang paghahanda at pagpili ng pagkain, disiplina sa sarili, lakas ng loob, pagmamahal ng pamilya, malasakit ng kapwa at pananalig sa Diyos; ang lahat ng ito na lamang ang nakikita kong nagbibigay-buhay sa akin.

Bilang Kidney patient, gumagastos ako ng P10,000.00 kada Linggo. Isang paggastos na imposibleng kayanin ng isang pamilyang kinabibilangan ko, mahirap na magsasaka.

Dahil dito, humihingi po ako ng tulong, malasakit at awa mula sa inyo, upang kahit paano, marugtungan pa ang aking buhay. Upang magkaroon pa ako ng pagkakataong makasama, mahalin at paglingkuran sa abot ng aking makakaya ang aking pamilya, lalong higit ang 2 kong anak, na lubhang nangangailangan pa nga gabay, aruga at pagmamahal ng isang ina.

Lubos ko pong ipagpapasalamat anumang tulong na ipagkakaloob ninyo sa akin, upang ipagpatuloy ang aking Dialysis, ang aking buhay.

I've been so lazy to blog lately not only because there has been so many activities that i was involved which made me so busy but because i'm not in a momentum to write. For some bloggers they can post as many entries as they can in a day not like me who can only do that when i'm hurting, angry with someone or i've got so many problems. My mind overflows with ideas esp when i hate someone...that's the time i wanted to write all the things that i simply thought about...or when somebody hurt me so much or i've heard someone talk negative things about me to other people instead of correcting me....i feel like...just to get away from that feeling of...........blogging became my outlet for expressing my feelings and thought that made me sad and angry.

So if i'm not blogging it's either i am so busy and i don't have time or my heart and mind is in a very good condition. My mind is relax and my heart is happy...

Yesterday, 15th August 2010 was the Feast of Our Lady of Assumption and on the same day, we children of Fr. Al celebrated the 25th Anniversary of The Sisters of Mary School - Philippines.

Being a graduate of a/m school, i've learned to love and venerate Mama Mary. I remember the days when we pray the rosary everyday and the novena of the Virgin of the Poor (Our Lady of Banneux).

A short story of Our Lady of Banneux says that the Blessed Mother have appeared to Mariette Beco eight times when she was 10 years old calling herself as the "Virgin of the Poor". Mama Mary Mary promised to intercede for the poor, the sick and the suffering.

And so yesterday we have attended the high mass at Saint Mary's Church, Dubai to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady's of Assumption. As part of the celebration there was a MARIAN EXHIBIT where various Statues of Mama Mary was exhibited in front of the Church for viewing but as i was looking at the Statues i felt sad that I have not seen the statue of Virgin of the Poor - the Patron of The Sisters of Mary School in their noble deed of serving the poorest of the poor.

I took some photos of the Statues using my mobile phone and to my suprise one of them i've never seen and never heard about, Maria Bambina.

Some other Statues: Our Lady of Piat, Our Lady of Assumption, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Our Lady of Manaoag, Immaculate Concepcion, Our Lady of Lourdes and many more which i was not able to take a photo.

Know what i tried to touch the Statue of Our Lady of Manaoag even if it's not allowed. Hubby's cousin told me to touch it and say a little prayer to blessed me a baby, Our Lady of Manaoag is a Patroness of sick, helpless and needy.

I've watched this movie twice and still i would love to watch it again....with hubby. For sure he will not like to spend a dirhams for a movie like this but I would like to try just for a change...i hate to see him watch on DVD those old time action movies.

The Proposal is a 2009 American romantic comedy film with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds as the main character. Here, Sandra Bullock is a pushy boss forces her young assistant to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada.

I'm not a fan of romantic movies as i always love a science fiction and historical but since today's topic is about real life with friends i would love to have a movie date with them watching Flipped.

I'm already married but it's always been good to share how my first crush or first love was. It's also nice to hear other stories from girl friends about their puppy love when they we're still an elementary grader maybe or a higschool student.

In this movie a two second grader started to have feelings for each other despite their differences. It was like a story of me and my hubby who hated each other and was never friends because of our relatives who loved to make fun of us.

Still a part of Dubai Summer Surprises, The Collectors Exhibition, where the Emirati collectors shared their unique collectibles.

Ahmed Mohamed Saleh Al Aqeeli - took up collecting vintage sunglasses two to three years ago where he mentioned that he has glasses worn by Saddam Hussein.

Azza Al Marri - her collections includes old times like authentic radios, bowls, precious antiques, daggers, and precious stones.

Fathya Al Qassab - proudly owns more than 1500 pieces of toys inside the Kinder Surprise chocolate.

Salem Al Shaqsi - well known throughout UAE for his unique craft of modifying cars.

I've got a photo of this 1972 Mini Moke Car at Burjuman Center. Mini Moke is a vehicle based on the Mini and designed for the British Motor Corporation. The name comes from "Mini" the car with which the Moke shares many parts and "Moke", which is an archaic dialect term for donkey. (Ref - Wikipedia)

GT: I LOVE ME SPIRITUALLY

I felt like I was once an angel/holy during my stay at a convent-like school when I was in highschool. And as we talk about being spiritual let me share how I was before spiritually.

Am not religious in the sense of being a religious....but growing up with religious people I think somehow there's a part of me that was called for holiness. When I was young as a kid I saw how the people of our barrio venerate the Patron Saints and Mama Mary. For sure all of you are aware about Santa Crusan...it's like a 9 days Novena mostly during summers. I remember we have 5 Chapels other than the Church in our Barrio and we have attended Novena's in all those Chapels not because we want to have that give away after the Novena but because our elders brought us there to learn how to pray hoping that when they're too old to lead a Novena, they will pass it to our generation.

Funny but I have a memory of praying the "Rosary after the Novena De Salvacion" together with my grandmother where I should respond after her but often I got sleep at the middle of praying time and when she noticed that I am already asleep she will pinch me on my side, then I will respond which sometimes was not appropriate to what she has prayed. I’ve learned to pray the Angelus through my grandmother also, and 6:00 o’clock is the time I hated most. That time is the best time for young children to play and I hate her calling me to stop playing because we have to pray the Angelus.

Then when I entered The Sisters of Mary School the more I became prayerful. Prayer is one of the duties we have there. Imagine the bell rang at 5:30 for Morning Prayer, we pray before and after eating time, Angelus at 6:00pm followed by Rosary and another praying time before we sleep at night. We have the Novena for the Virgin of the Poor, Long Rosary, Station of the Cross, Meditation of Lives of the Saints, film showing of the Saints and Beatos, and Catechism Class every Sundays. We attend the Holy Mass twice a week and read the bible and all other Holy Books everyday before Rosary Time. Then during Holy Week we fast and do sacrifices for the intention of saving souls from the Purgatory and to relieve sufferings of those who are sick and needy. We also have our Vigil and if your group is scheduled to pray at 1am it means that everybody should get up from bed and go to the Chapel to pray for almost an hour. So that was the life we have there other than studying. It was the best time of my life being a holy but naughty student of that school.

When I left that school after graduation I became a member of Parish Renewal Experience and when I came to Dubai I’ve joined Singles for Christ. It feels so great to have a direct connection to God through Prayer and doing noble works but sometimes when you go out to the real world with so many temptations you sometimes forget to do good all the time.

Right now, I seldom go to Church and I’ve even forgotten to confess my sin for years now but it doesn’t mean that I forgot HIM. I don’t pray the rosary anymore but I don’t forget to thank GOD before I sleep at night for all the blessing he gives me.

I am not as good as you might expect it but everyday is an struggle for me to be good though sometimes it’s really hard to be good when all evil are just around me.

ASMSI - UAE Chapter is scheduled to have a General Assembly and the 25th Anniversary of the The Sisters of Mary School Celebration by next month and being the appointed secretary for the moment together with the current secretary who is getting married a day after the said event we were asked to find for the best hotel that can offer the best package for a dinner party with Filipino food for min 40 pax, sound system & microphone and LCD screen,

So since last week till yesterday we had our ocular and walk in visit from the nearby hotels in our area. There is one hotel near the Dubai Museum, The Arabian Courtyard Hotel, where i got fascinated with the lamp at the reception area and can't help not to take a photo of it which i am sharing it now.

GT: MENTAL ABILITY

Today is Thursday and it's Girls Talk time again. It's Beauty Queen Gene's third week as the host of this meme and for the last previous weeks we all had a great time sharing how we love ourselves physically, financially and now mentally. Well, I can't talk big about myself mentally neither i can say that i hate nor i love myself for not being the best in school during my academic years but i maintained being in top 5. I know i can do more during those days but i was one of those students who prefer to be lazy than to study hard.

When we say mental ability...it is the power to learn and retain knowledge. I am a fast learner, one thing i can be proud of myself but i can't say that the knowledge i've learned would retain in my mind. I've read so many books or even watched so many movies but try to ask me a certain character or events that was mentioned there...for sure i would not remember it.

If there's something i love mentally about me is that i am always determined to reach one goal whatever it takes but what i hate about me mentally is that isn't it that brains rules everything and that heart comes after head? Come and visit me again on our last week if you wanna know how i hate myself emotionally..

PBW: ANIMAL HOME DECOR

For some people, their home is their largest investement. I have once admired a house somewhere in Al Barsha during our Christmas Day Celebration on 2008 with their home decor like the egyptian & japanese frames, african artifacts and the plants inside the house.

Then last Thursday during the EXECOM Meeting of ASMSI - UAE Chapter at Big Brother's House in Sharjah i took some photos of the animal home decors in their living room. I haven't touched it so i really don't know if all displays are made of wood or what...but for sure the last one is a wooden elephant.

GREEN SMOKEY EYE

I'm not fan of using make ups..not because i am lazy enough to apply it on my face but because i can go to work as jologs (out of style or baduy) as i can be but as a girly thing to have i bought my make up kit plus all other make up collections that was given by friends which i only use during parties and events that requires to look nice and beautiful.

I don't know how to apply make ups properly so most of the time i tried watching a tutorial first before applying it on my face just like what i did last time where i have watched exteeners exotic smokey green eyes.

I think i have not come up with a good exotic smokey green eyes but somehow i've done it more simply to match my dress. I guess for now i should look for short training courses for beauty and make up offered in Dubai to improve my make up skills.

EARN EXTRA INCOME THROUGH BLOGGING

I've been telling Roma to start monetizing her blog coz I've got other friends whose earning $$$ through blogging and I myself have earned a little through it where i was able to buy a new domain, Life At Work.

Other friends has been asking me also how to earn through blogging. Well, it was Niko who told me to monetize my blog which i did last year and i started earning small amount end of last year.

GT: FINANCIALLY BROKE

I've been wishing that I hope when I wake up the next day it's already mid of 2011. I've told my friends to wait for me next year for that shopping extravaganza. I’ve got loan and credit cards to pay till next year and when it’s all paid I can already pamper myself with everything that I wanted to buy.

I hate myself for overspending during the past years and I hate that almost 60% of my salary now goes to loan and credit cards payment. I admire those ladies who can manage their finances coz I can’t do that. I love to spend my money till the last coins that I have. And now that I am totally broke all I can do is not to dwell on my financial problems because it will just drag me down. Surely thinking for nights and day about my loans and credit card to pay will not solve the problem. And it’s enough to mull over about it just for a minutes.

I have learned that I should not spend beyond my means…but neither i regret being financially broke for almost 3 years now when i know i've been the best sister to my siblings by helping them achieve their dreams..

EXTEENERS EXOTIC SMOKEY GREEN EYES

The ladies at Flat 609 are going out tonight as a farewell night out to one of our flatmate who’s moving to another accommodation provided by their company. And since today is Tuesday and there are just so many bars waiting for the ladies to avail their free drinks, so we all decided to go out this evening.

I’ll be wearing my new green dress which I bought from UKay the other week. Check it out from the photos I’ll posting on FB tomorrow if it looks like I bought if from UK..hehe. With that I searched for a make up tutorial that will match the color of my dress. Good thing I am Exteener's subscriber and she had a tutorial about smokey green eyes which i will try tonight.

THE LITTLE PRINCE ON GOOGLE'S HEADER

Who among you have read the most famous novella of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince? On that book I got my favorite saying “It’s only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eyes”, it’s the lines uttered by the fox to the little prince which means that we only really see with the heart...the most important things can't be seen with the eyes.

Have you noticed the Google’s header today? Isn’t it the Little Prince? Upon seeing it, I was reminded how I loved this book and I even remember how I had this book. Well, it was early morning of midyear 1998; I was waiting for my mom on the stairs of Metropolis Mall in Alabang when suddenly a man on his twenties came near to me telling that he saw me from afar and that I was alone since I came and he thought that maybe I was waiting for someone and feeling bored already coz I’ve been there for couple of hours same as he was…and maybe we needed both company. At first I was really afraid…it was the first time meeting a stranger early morning and there was only few people on that place and if he did something wrong on me I don’t know if those people would care to help me. But then he said “don’t be afraid I’m not a bad guy though I’ve been before”. He told me that he’s a member of a band and he’s an addict but after reading “The Little Prince” everything has changed. He was there waiting for the dawn coz he run away from their home. He came from a well off family but his parents believed that he’s always been the black sheep so he decided to leave their house and don’t know where to go. He gave me his book that night and he even signed his name at the back of the front cover…I forgot his whole name but it sounds like Zedric Von ______ Aguillon. He said that night that he doesn’t know if on the next day he is still alive and so he told me to take good care of the book even if it’s almost worn out and try to read and understand every little things that is written there coz it has so many lessons. And he said when he’s down he only reads that book and everything will be okay. Then my mom came and we said goodbye. It was nice meeting a stranger for the first and last time.

I suggest to all people who may read this blog and haven’t read the book “The Little Prince” …please read it and for sure you’ll love it as much as I do.

Thank You Lord for the gift of life. Thank you for giving me another year to be productive, to share my life and be a blessing to other people. Thank you for all the blessings you continue to shower on me. I pray that you always guide and help me be a better person everyday.
